Conviction FAQ
|
(currently outdated)
Conviction: n. 1. Firmly held belief, a
belief or opinion that is held vehemently; 2. firmness of
belief, firmness of belief or opinion.
Founded upon the triune
principles of family-type bonds, game enjoyment, and personal
excellence, Conviction is a group of tight-knit people that
seek to explore all aspects of the Everquest world without a
rabid devotion to all-night raiding and everyday zerg
festivals. We will remain true to one another and to our
mission of honing our individual skills to their very utmost
so that we can advance through the elemental planes with the
satisfaction of knowing that advancement was earned through
teamwork and shared spirit. We will always stress quality over
quantity. We value people above loot. We value unity above
self-aggrandizement. We value tactics above blind force. These
are the convictions that we hold to be true.
Who are we?
The
guild is comprised of many different people, each bringing
unique and valuable skills to the whole. We come from a varied
background of different guilds, where the need to find
something which fit our own ideas of game play were not
fulfilled. Our convictions drove us together to form something
new. The guild is only a few weeks old and has already become
a haven for many similarly-minded people, people who have lent
it strength in addition to the handful that originally felt
driven to found it.
What are we doing now?
We're forming
ranks. An overwhelming response of applicants and people with
goals similiar to our own has provided us with the opportunity
to steadily raid upper tier PoP mobs. We're hitting 2nd, 3rd
and elemental tiers with the goal of outfitting our members
prior to a reflagging period that will come quite soon. We're
also finalizing policy and completing our website. A coded DKP
system is up and running.
When are raids scheduled?
Raids
aren’t scheduled. We want to retain a semi-casual atmosphere
where people can raid and see the high-end game, but also have
their own time to adventure, grind, and explore. Conviction
doesn’t want to own their members, but to free them for a
whole new range of experiences. That said, we are fairly
hard-core in hitting the targets that may randomly be
available to us. PoP mobs have various spawn times and we will
be tracking them in order to reflag and/or better equip our
members. Raiding nights may vary in intensity due to this
schedule, with one week having only one or two raids and the
next having four or five.
What kind of targets are you
hitting?
In the past few weeks we’ve hit the Bastion of
Thunder tower bosses for some upgrades and runes, named mobs
in the Plane of Fire and the Plane of Air that have dropped
significant pieces of equipment for several raid attendees.
Avatar of War, Vallon Zek, Terris Thule, Behemoth and Grummus
can also be added to this list, with many more kills to
follow. Targets we aim to hit in the near future would
primarily be those in the Planes that are within the scope of
our abilities – which are governed only by the number of
people we have on-line at any given time. Conviction's
foremost goal is to have all members flagged for the Elemental
planes in as brief a period as is reasonably possible.
Secondarily,we will be focusing on Ssra with the intent of
keying the guild for Vex Thal. Occasionally, not often, we may
also target Luclin or Velious mobs. These are easy targets
that can provide FT and other upgrades for our members and
shouldn't entirely be overlooked.
What if I’m not flagged for
the elementals?
We will be reflagging new members as it
becomes possible. At first, we have to work within the
boundaries of the resources that are available to us. As more
members join the guild, we’ll be able to attempt and defeat
each new mob leading right up through Rallos Zek and Sol Ro as
well. We have the great benefit of understanding how to take
down each of these mobs, however, and know how to slay them
with the minimum number of good people. If you are not flagged
for the elementals, you will be soon.
What about loot?
Conviction's official loot and DKP/RP type policy is posted on
the forum. Links to the DKP system are availalable as well,
for those who have registered and received approval. What
about spectrals, runes, and quest drops? Spectral parchments
and runes are collected by the loot officer to avoid delay in
the midst of raid encounters. They will be randomed amongst
those that need spells, with the highest random designated as
the winner. The loot officer will turn the spectral/rune in
for the winner and deliver the spell to them. Quest items will
be distributed according to need and amount of progress in the
quest involved. If two candidates in consideration are at
similar stages of progression, the item will be randomed and
won by the highest number.
Is there a homepage I can look at?
Our page is nearly complete now. Thank Fyrestarter, everyone,
for the design -- which is going to blow your socks off. Keep
looking for an announcement that it is ready on these boards.
What can I expect from Conviction?
You can expect to be
respected, valued, and treated as an individual. You can
expect a group of players and friends that will be striving to
achieve their utmost so that together, as a team, we can
accomplish higher goals and advancements without losing sight
of what is most important. You can expect honesty; clear, well
posted policies; officers that will listen to your opinions,
problems, and thoughts – and will take each into account. You
can expect that guild members know their classes and their
roles. You can expect a level of respect for other players,
maturity, and honor. You can expect people that want the same
things that you do. What does Conviction expect from me? The
members of the guild expect those interested in joining their
ranks to hold the same beliefs and values. We expect that you
will uphold and honor the name of the guild and will do your
best to enhance and preserve its good reputation. Everyone
will expect that you know how to play your character and are
willing to grow and learn along with the rest of us. We expect
honesty, determination, tenacity, drive, friendly nature,
personal maturity, and conviction from you.
What does
Conviction NOT expect from me?
Our good reputation is of
tantamount importance to us. We are a closely-tied group and
want people of likeminded ideals. We are not looking for those
that abuse others in any way, shape, or form. We are not
looking for those that break the rules -- spoken or unspoken
of EQ -- such as posting inflamatory remarks on other boards
that may damage the guild's reputation, training others,
arguing in /shout or /ooc. We are not looking for drama queens
or troublemakers. If you do or are any of the above, don't
come to us. We will take harsh, decisive steps to protect our
valued members from such things. If you do gain access to the
guild and then reveal these things to be in your true nature,
we will take definitive measures to remove the trouble from
our midst, up to and including guild disbandment upon
unanimous officer vote -- and Diss says to add castration to
the list, too. Remember, we're out to protect ourselves and
our members. They are most important.
Okay, I’m interested.
What do I do now?
Well, feel free to contact Xerno or Adres,
our Recruitment Officers. They’ll chat with you and answer any
questions you may have. And, if you find you’re still
interested in the guild, they’ll probably invite you to the
channel and to join us in hunting so that we can all meet one
another. Okay. I REALLY like the guild and want to join it.
How do I apply?
Conviction's application policy is posted on
these boards for general consumption, as is the basic
application form. You may contact Xerno or Adres, who are the
guild's recruitment and application officers if you have any
questions about either or the process in general.
